Maps Community Foundation is offering a limited number of Individual Development Accounts (IDAs) to qualifying students each year to support post-secondary education. IDA funds can be used for trade schools, community college and/or four-year university – all accredited educational institutions.

What is an IDA?

An IDA is a 5:1 matched savings program in which $5 is matched for every $1 saved. If a student saves $1,000, that saver can be matched $5,000 for a total of $6,000 towards their education.

Who’s eligible?

  • Must be 16 years or older to apply
  • Must be a current Oregon resident
  • Must have a source of earned income
  • Preference is given to students living in Marion and/or Polk Counties
  • A certain number of IDA saver spots are given each year to high school students connected to AVID and/or Boys and Girls Club in Salem-Keizer, students working in our Maps high school branches at McKay and West, and students from rural communities.
  • If space is available, we will serve additional local students as well as students from outside the two-county area.
  • Must meet specific income requirements listed below (household income limits) or automatically qualify based on participation in an eligible public benefit program, including SNAP, TANF, and others.
