Auto Insurance

Commercial Auto

Are you renting cars or are your employees using their own vehicles? This particular coverage provides business insurance coverage for certain liabilities arising from the use of a rented or leased vehicle (hired), or a non-owned vehicle (employee using their own vehicle on company business). Oftentimes this coverage can be added inexpensively to a business auto policy, or in some cases, a general liability policy.

Hired/Non-owned Auto Liability

Commercial auto insurance can cover a combination of vehicle types (trucks, cars) and drivers, as well as some types of motorized equipment. It provides for bodily injury liability and property damage while operating a company automobile, and medical payments or Personal Injury Protection (PIP) for the driver and passengers of the policyholder’s car.

Use of Personal Vehicles

Insurance policies for privately owned vehicles may not cover damage to your privately owned car or truck when it is used for business, even when it’s a business such as selling cosmetics, jewelry, or pizza delivery.

Liability Insurance

General Liability

General liability, also known as “commercial liability insurance” is a broad commercial insurance policy that covers general liability exposures of a business. Maps Insurance recommends that all businesses have general liability coverage in place.

Professional Liability Insurance (Errors & Omissions)

Errors & Omissions (E&O) covers professionals for negligence and errors or omissions that injure their clients or cause damage to a third party’s data. This type of insurance is particularly important to licensed professionals such as accountants, attorneys, insurance agents, architects, engineers and technology companies. Maps Insurance recommends that all professional and technology companies have E&O coverage.

Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI)

Employment Practices Liability Insurance for employers covers employment-related liabilities other than on-the-job injuries. This can include legal fees and damages for suits such as wrongful termination, discrimination, sexual harassment, and other alleged violations of employees’ legal rights. If you have employees, Maps Insurance recommends considering this type of coverage.

Directors and Officers Insurance (D&O)

D&O insurance covers directors and officers of a company for negligent acts or omissions and for misleading statements that result in lawsuits against the company. There is a variety of Directors and Officers coverage available such as corporate reimbursement coverage, personal liability, and entity coverage. D&O policies may be broadened to include coverage for employment practices liability as well.

Workers Compensation

Workers’ Compensation coverage pays for medical care and physical rehabilitation of employees injured at work and helps to replace lost wages while they are unable to work. Additionally, this coverage protects an employer from being sued by an injured worker in most cases.

A commonly overlooked exposure for companies who employ mostly office workers is the potential injury to employees while driving their own vehicles on company business. This could be as simple as an employee driving to a sales call, the bank or office supply store. If you have employees, it is critical that you consider this important coverage.

Maps Insurance is your one stop shop for all your cannabis insurance needs.

As a brokerage, we offer many carriers (many Oregon based!), which will offer cannabis insurance. Why shop only one company, when we have several companies that we can shop for you? Save time, money and let us do the work for you.

Cultivation

Indoor, Greenhouse & Outdoor. Whether you cultivate cannabis indoors, outdoors, or inside a greenhouse your insurance program will be designed to protect your plants, equipment, premises liability, product liability and business income in the event of a covered loss.

Cannabis Manufacturing & Processing

If you produce cannabis-infused products such as oils, waxes, tinctures, and cannabis edibles designing an insurance program will be designed to protect your equipment, premises liability, product liability and business income in the event of a loss.

Laboratory & Testing

When you test and verify the THC and CBD levels or pollutants in cannabis and hemp you need to make certain that your insurance program includes Professional Liability. This coverage will provide protection because of the errors and omissions in your professional services. You would also want to make certain that you’ve included protection for any specialized equipment that’s used in your operations.

Wholesaler & Distribution

As a distribution company of cannabis & hemp products it’s important that your insurance program be designed to address the property of others’ exposure that you’ll have. You’ll want to make certain that you have Stock Throughput coverage in place to provide protection in case of a covered loss to the property of others that you have in your protection.

Transportation & Delivery

If you transport and deliver cannabis & hemp products through the cannabis supply chain it’s important that your insurance program includes protection for damage to vehicles, injuries, and medical bills that you might cause to others. This can be addressed with commercial auto insurance. In addition, you will also want to be certain to include protection for product from first party and third party theft that’s associated with the transportation process.

Dispensaries & Retail Operations

Your insurance program will be designed to protect your property and inventory, liability, and loss of income in the event of a loss.

Buildings & Landlords

Whether you have an industrial property, warehouse, greenhouse, strip mall or office building your insurance program will be designed to protect the structure due to claims for fire, vandalism, and other common perils. It’s also important that your business income or loss of rental income has thoughtfully been considered as well.
